Navisworks - Automatic Animations Part 1

One of the great strengths of the Navisworks product of course is visualization. This not only helps in coordinating activity and showing potential problems that may occur, it can also be used to help sell an idea or give a real life look at movement inside a factory, building or even a robotic work cell. In the short video I have provided I take a look at how to set-up the first step in a animation. The creation of the scene, selection of geometry and capturing of the start and end point of a moving object. Next week I will take it a step further by adding in the automated part to activate the animation while doing a walk thru. Again, if you have any questions about this blog or any other blog posted to this site please feel free to contact us or submit ideas for future blogs by selecting the cadgeek on this site.

Navisworks - Animation Basics

One of the key features when working with Autodesk Navisworks is being able to animate items like a walk thru or fly thru. Today I will show a quick example of creating a walk thru inside of Navisworks. This will give us the ability to look at paths inside our large assemblies and we have the ability to export this information into a avi file if needed, by simply going to our file pull down menu and selecting the export option from their. In a future blog I will go into greater detail of working with animations.

Alias Keyframe Animation

Alias allows you to create animations of your products using key frame animation.
Key framing allows you to capture movements over a period of time. This very useful for visualizing the functionality of a product you are designing.

Camera Path Animations in Inventor 2009

Inventor 2009 now includes the ability to use 2D or 3D paths to define camera animations. This allows camera animations such as walk throughs or complex walk arounds.

The video below is an example of the new Camera Path Animation available in Inventor 2009's Studio environment.
