Many of you have been asking about having a single PDF file that contains multiple DWG's from AutoCAD Electrical and now 2010 delivers. In the short video we will take a look at the process and a few options you have when creating your PDF's.

New DWF publishing options are available for users of Vault and Productstream 2009, but they are currently hidden in an XML file that must be edited to make changes. The Publish Options.xml file contains many DWF options for Inventor 2D and 3D files as well as AutoCAD. This file allows us to disable measure, markup, and printing of Vaulted DWF files. It can also be used to change the facet resolution of 3D files, and background color of 2D Inventor drawings that are published as well as a host of other options.

The project enviroment gives us the abilty to have great organization of our electrical files. It also provides us a very easy way to capture and share files with using zip. Using zip not only gives us the ability to share all or some of our drawing files but also the ability to capture our project file (.wdp) and the option to capture the database file (.mdb) for the project itself.
This is often used for archiving projects and is great when trying to trouble shoot a problem with someone working at a helpdesk since only sending a single drawing may not be enough information to trouble shoot the problem at hand.
Tip: For any drawing to be zipped it can not be active.

Everytime I am with a new customer I am asked can we save to a PDF? I use to always say why would you want to with the power a dwf posseses and still do. I think it just comes down to the old saying you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
Two new file formats have been added to Autodesk Inventor: PDF: A Portable Document Format (PDF) creates formatted documents which appear on the monitor or printer as intended. To view a file in PDF format, you need Adobe Reader, a free application distributed by Adobe Systems.
DWFx: A 3D file. The published 2D data can be viewed in IE7 or the Microsoft XPS Viewer. To view the published 3D data, install the free viewer, Autodesk design Review, available from www.autodesk.com/designreview.
